Scabies and lice are both tiny parasitic animals that are difficult to see with the naked eye and which live and thrive on the human body. Lice tends to latch onto hair—on the head, pubis, or body. Scabies, on the other hand, burrows under skin usually between the webbing of fingers, ankles and wrists leaving tiny excoriations. Both are extremely contagious and need a human host to survive.
What are the symptoms?
Both lice and scabies causes mad itching. The itching that lice causes is usually on the head or pubis or areas thick with hair and will occur day or night. Scabies would cause itching in non-hairy areas usually on arms, legs and is much worse at night.
Can it be treated?
Both lice and scabies can be treated but the treatment can be tricky because both lice and scabies are so very contagious and can come back. There are special shampoos and lotions and creams that are used and work very well, but more than that it needed. Everyone in the house or who lives in close proximity will need treatment also and everything thing needs to be washed in hot water or wiped down with disinfectant. This it why getting rid of lice and scabies is a pain!
